Faces on the Book

So after a LONG while, I am back to blogging... Or as I like to call it, "doing something I don't have time to do, at a time I shouldn't be doing it." It's 10:45 as I start to write, but I finally got to feeling better this evening, so not quite ready for bed.

So why a blog? Because sometimes I can't type all I want to in my facebook posts. I also like attention. The last time I wrote a blog, it was on MySpace, and I had like 5 friends. Now I've been on Facebook over a year, and have over 100. So if 6 of them read this, I have upgraded.

For those that didn't get to read the old blog, here's what to expect... Don't expect anything. I write about whatever is on my mind, and since I have the attention span of a lab rat, it's usually quick and kinda from out of nowhere.

With all the introductory stuff out of the way, let's get down to some thoughts.
I mentioned I had been on facebook about a year, and I've noticed a few things, or more correctly a few people. I've managed to (perhaps unfairly) group all people on facebook into a few simple categories. Some of you may see yourself in one or more of these, or none. In case you don't see yourself in any of these descriptions, forget about it, you're a loser. Remember, these descriptions are meant to be fun, if you DO see yourself in these descriptions and it makes you upset, again forget about it, you're a loser.

1. The Constant Companion These are the folks that post FIFTEEN (million) times a day. They post when they wake up, they post when they are going to sleep. They post when they need to use the bathroom but realize that they left their book in the car. If I wanted to know what kind of pajamas you liked to sleep in, I'd put a camera in your bedroom (for those that hear a strange electronic noise at night, you know who you are, skip this last sentence).

2. The Collector These are the folks who try to see how many friends they can have. Those that knew me in high school would be shocked that I have 108 friends on facebook (I am), but at least that's reasonable to assume that I've come out of my shell and learned the art of networking. Some of you, there is NO WAY that you even KNOW 700, 800, or 900 people. Just because you grew up in the same state, or both happen to dig Celine Dion, that doesn't make you friends. This is not a contest, and you do not impress anybody. Or is it just that I'm jealous?

3. The Fan(atic) These are the ones that ONLY post if it is political, and by political I mean derrogatory to someone else's views. Don't get me wrong, this forum is in place for people to share their beliefs. And I have nothing against an occasional post that lets the world know where you stand. But if you delve into the profile of a Fan(atic), they don't have any family photos, no personal photos of themselves, no music interests, nothing except endless proof of a one-track mind.

4. The busy-body If there's a game to play, they've mastered it. If there's a hug to send, their arms are locked in constant embrace. Basically, if there's an app on facebook, their name is in it. Sometimes I can't even get my POSTS to go up correctly, but these masters of their domain plow through hearts and lollipops, farms and urban environments, or yellow snow and worthy causes like a 3 year old in a room full of bouncy balls.

And last but not least...
5. The Comedian(ish) This is where I fit in. This type only posts "when I've got something good." Translation, "I'm too lazy to post more often." They try to say stuff that is funny, or at least funny to them, and use their posts to see which ones get the most comments. Most posts get none. They will post about the referees during the first half of the ballgame, then leave that post up for 3 weeks. Nevermind the fact that the game worked out in their favor, or that two more games have been played by their team. They'll post a "gem" and then be upset with themselves if they "left something out" and have to post again or just be the first to leave a comment so future (hopeful) readers will understand what they meant.

So there you have it, my thoughts on Facebook. Did I leave a category out? Did I offend anybody? Leave a comment (us #5's need that) and let me know what you think.
